Just the perfect form factor

Use Case:

I have a tiny communication box in my flat foyer, which hosts all the LAN connectivity (including phone and DTH). The router and the fiber optic device are also housed in this communication box. It has limited width, and fitting a standard UPS would be impossible. So had to look for a small device, and this product perfectly fits the bill. Have been using this since the end of July 2018.

Product Description and case contents:

UPS devise and some bridge cables, which help you to connect to various devices. The device is really small form factored and is slightly larger than a cigarette box.! It has an on/off switch and LED signaling to show: full charge, charging, or discharge. The device does not come with a charging adapter — the assumption being that the router adapter can be used. I think this is fair enough, and keeps costs down. Setup takes around 30 seconds and you are good to go.

Usage and impressions:

I am using this to power a 1.5A + 0.5A device setup. The bridge cables helped here, which came bundled. The backup is awesome. The power “goes away” at a maximum of 10-12 seconds in my condo. That is enough to trip the router and start the re-boot cycle. Which results in the www, being away for ~2 minutes. This device absolutely negates this phenomenon. The changeover to back-up (and vice versa) is seamless and jitter-free. You cannot tell that power backup is operations. Basically like any generic UPS. What surprises me, is that a device so diminutive can do this too. I have tested it for backup (enforced by switching off the power supply) for 1H, and it continued to run just fine. No drop-in pings or wifi range throughput due to power diminishes. This translates to: even as the device discharges it continues to maintain designated power delivery and proper voltage.

Overall Feedback:

I would highly recommend this device. The making and quality are superb and it is a unique proposition in the wide arrange of UPSs available. Great idea and extremely useful for having a backup in small confines.

Undoubtedly Reliable and Useful

This of one of the best devices for anyone working from home must-have. Despite having a Power back, I usually got disconnected for a brief time (lasting anywhere between 1 min to 3 minutes) – but this was very frustrating. This became extremely embarrassing at times when I had to lead any critical Client or leadership call or screen share.

The experience of getting the device connected was effortless – with no additional accessories required and works like charm. I am not sure about the backup time, but the max I had to use during the recent power cut was for 2 hrs.

I was particularly impressed by its intuitive design and thoughtful packaging. Needless to mention, receiving the product within 12 hours post order on Amazon was nothing new.

Great backup for my Asus Dark knight router

Fantastic product. The initial quality is very good. Well packaged; plenty of connector options bundled along to pair with various devices.

I was able to get it working with my Asus dark knight (N66U) router. Many Asus routers by default come with a 19V/1.58A DC adapter like that of mine. But these routers can also work with 12V/2A DC supply, which resonate can supply. I purchased a separate 12V/2A adapter along with resonating ups from Amazon, and the combination works like a charm!

Note: I had to retain and patch the proprietary dc barrel jack tip of the Asus router with one of the supply patch cables to get it working.

Beyond expectations!

I used the CRV12V2 with my 4G LTE VoLTE router that takes a SIM card (pictured), in this case, a Jio SIM card, and connected this router to a cordless, powered landline phone (I am creating this set up for my father’s remote farm). This router’s adapter is rated for 12 V, 1.0 A.

To test this UPS’ life, after everything was switched on, and it was fully charged overnight, I left it only on the UPS power and went to work at 1:45 pm, after taking out the adapter from the plug point. Note, the WiFi router was not being used for an internet connection at this time when I was at work, even though it was switched on; no device was connected to the WiFi. Nevertheless, I was expecting it to work till about 5:45 pm since the manufacturer said that it will last for upto 4 hours. I tested this by calling that Jio SIM periodically all through the workday, and if it rang, the router is switched on.

The result? It just kept successfully ringing, all the way till 11 pm that day! I came home at 12:15 am, and the router was still switched on, just powered off this UPS!!!! THAT’S FANTASTIC!

Now, I know that the life of the battery will be lower if the WiFi is being used to browse the internet, but, still, this is a very good experience! Beyond expectations! I am sure it will last the promised 4 hours at least!

There’s no other product in the market as good as this, designed as well as this, with so many clear instructions that are easy to follow.

Well done, Resonate!!!!

A very useful product in case of frequent power cuts.

I am staying in an area where power cuts happen at least once or twice a day. The main annoying part has been the restart of the modem (and, my Binatone modem from Airtel takes ages to start and get connected) every time switch happens between live–power and generator. My purpose was to avoid that situation, and this power backup solved my problem. I didn’t try to measure its maximum backup capacity because like I said, I just need to avoid the glitch and I have a generator in my apartment.

One quick piece of advice is to check that the ampere rating of this power back-up matches with your modem. This product comes with multiple sets of connectors to support different modems.

The seller is very courteous and happy to guide you in case you have any confusion. I had a question on the connector (port supported) and I got a prompt efficient response.

Not recommended. It’s a cheap Chinese rebadged product with very poor after-sales service.

A useful product indeed for a typical Indian power supply situation with frequent outages. However, I’m editing my review to note that this is a use-and-throw product with no serviceability or battery replacement options by the seller.

One year update: the battery inside has ‘died’. The unit is no longer proving even a minute of backup.

My version stopped providing backup after 8-9 months of use.

Update 2: Contacted Resonate support and was informed that the product warranty is only 6 months. It cannot be repaired by Resonate support and the only option they offered me was a discount code to purchase a new unit.

Disappointed. In hindsight, I should’ve just ordered the cheaper Chinese alternatives. I’m down revising my original rating to 2 stars (for quick shipping and good packaging).

Doesn’t work

I bought this after extensive research and finally finding out there is no comparable product in Indian markets.

I carefully choose the specification I needed for my router. Product arrives, I install as per instructions. The green light on ups switches on, I connect my router. It’s working fine, I have the wifi signal and connectivity. Time for the test, I switch off the power and poof, the wifi goes off, the ups simply does not support. I let it charge overnight. I try again – no backup.

So I return the product. The default return of the product is not refunded but replaced. Now I am waiting for the replacement to ship. They do not have any idea of when will it ship, amazon status stays they will email me when available. That was 4 days ago.

Even after returning the product, you don’t get satisfactory service. Just horribly. Avoid.

Too pricey, short life, non-replaceable battery, not worth it!

The device serves its purpose without any doubt, it worked well and gave upto 3-4 hrs of backup.

However it is priced atrociously high, Rs 2K is too much, we can get a proper UPS with a 7.2Ah battery at that price.

The unit lasted 1 to 1.5years, after that, it gave a backup of only 20 to 30mins. Now, it is dead and useless, we can’t replace the battery of the product, the only option is to junk it. I feel a small inverter system is better for the long term and can power multiple devices.

The other problem is voltage compatibility, if you get a new router then the existing product might not be compatible. They don’t have selectable output voltages(trust me it is not rocket science to do that). You need to buy one product for a 9V router and a different one for 12V.

Overall stay away from it unless you have a lot of money to spare.

Not reliable ..stopped working just within 1 year

It does its job but the product is not reliable at all, never faced such an issue with any other electrical appliance. I have been using this for 1 year and it stopped working in the last month of the product warranty and the company is not ready to fix the issue. So 2200 Rs Router UPS that doesn’t even last for 1 year, I feel it’s not worth it. Secondly, the company’s customer service is very pathetic. They asked me all the details and but later refused to service it and suggested buying a new UPS. Even there is no option to repair the product after the warranty is over. So buy if you want to use it just for 12 months, as after that it will stop working. I see some other reviews also which have reported the same problem, and it’s disappointing that the company is not ready to help customers.

Good but not exceptionally good

This is the latest update. This is July 2019 and I bought another new one because there is no other option other than this in the market. But I hope they are listening to this. If they are serious about really upping the game, the need to improve the quality. If the equipment stops working after one year, then it’s really useless to keep replacing this again and again. I hope they improve the overall quality.

I had bought this in September 2017 and it stopped working in August 2018. So the life of this product is less than one year probably that’s why they have limited warranty of 6 months. When it lasted it was good it worked as per the specification. They need to improve the quality of the product. Do they expect us to spend almost 2000 every year? I will have to buy a new one. I am already looking for another similar product but this product will be my last resort.
