Scheduling a Black Ops III zombie-killing session is about to get a little easier for PlayStation gamers.

Sony on Monday released a standalone PlayStation Messages app for iOS and Android devices, which lets you send messages to your PS Network friends from your phone.

“We know that Messages is the most used feature of the PlayStation App, so we created the standalone PlayStation Messages app with a more streamlined design in order to get you into your Messages and communicating with your friends faster than ever before,” Sony’s Vice President of PS Brand Marketing, John Koller, wrote in a blog post.

he app shows your full friends list, sorted either alphabetically or by online status. It will also show any Favorite Groups you’ve added to message several people at once. You can swap text or voice messages, and even amuse (or harass) your friends with stickers and attachments.

“Making PS4 a socially connected experience has always been one of our core goals, and we think this app will help enhance that connectivity even further,” Koller wrote.

The app is available for download now inGoogle Play and the App Store. You will need a PSN account to access the app’s features.

Meanwhile, Sony also this week gave its PlayStation Now game-streaming platform amajor discount. For a limited time, those who sign up for PlayStation Now will pay $99.99 per year. It normally runs $20 per month ($240 per year) or $45 for three months ($180 per year).Source: Engadget
