Saving mobile data is easy with Datally, a smart new app by Google. It’s a mobile data manager that will help you monitor, save, and gain control of your data. Through tracking and controlling app data usage, you save more data and get the most out of your phone.

● DATA SAVER BUBBLE – Front and center controls allow you to see real-time app data usage, and block an app’s data usage if things get out of control

● DATA USAGE METRICS – Learn more about your data usage, including usage history, trends over time, and per-app usage
● PERSONALIZED RECOMMENDATIONS – See usage highlights, prompts to rate Wi-Fi networks, and reminders to turn on your data saver
SAVE MORE DATA
You can also get more data by find nearby Wi-Fi to watch more videos, browse more pictures, and download more files.
● WI-FI FINDER – Our Wi-Fi finder helps you discover great Wi-Fi networks nearby with details like distance. Before connecting, you can see how other Datally users have rated the Wi-Fi network, and you can also rate Wi-Fi networks that you’ve connected to
But that’s not all! We’ve got new features coming, including those that are currently available for limited testing in select markets:
● Balance checking and balance expiration reminders
● Proactive data usage warnings and controls
Datally requests certain permissions to help you get the most out of your mobile data, including:
● Phone – Used to help you monitor your phone’s mobile data usage. Datally doesn’t make or receive phone calls on your behalf.
● Location – Used to show you high-quality Wi-Fi networks nearby, and directions to get there.
● SMS – In select countries, this enables you to check your mobile data balance with your carrier, and to get smarter recommendations on how to save mobile data.
● VPN – Datally sets up a local Virtual Private Network (VPN) service on your device for you to help block unwanted mobile data usage – it doesn’t send any of your traffic through Google’s servers. The Datally VPN is only on your phone and doesn’t redirect your Internet traffic to any other servers or locations.

I see this app is good but does not serve its purpose. As they said if you keep your phone on standby and locked app will not able to connect internet, but today I tried on my galaxy s8 Kept phone on wifi at battery 82% at night and morning I just check phone it is 61%. It is eating more battery than normal standby time. Not worth…
The app seems great – however I feel like I am not seeing its potential since every time I open the app, the data saving feature reverts to the “OFF” position. Thus, the apps which I selected to block from using data are allowed to do so, and no savings are realized. I don’t know how to keep the thing turned on so I can see if it works!
1)Please add option to set data limit on mobile hotspot. 1. Limit For single device connected via hotspot 2. Limit for Overall users connected to android hotspot. 2) Also add option to block data as well as slow down data for particular user automatically after data set limit for that device or manually disable invisibling data.
The best needed app you provide for us. This app works good, and provide used data information. Just add data speed notification and monthly used data sheet by apps to makes it better. The data counting is not perfectly working. Please make a perfect app, so we can use it.
Unable to turn data saver on. Edit: I am unable to complete the “Set up Data Saver” process. I get to a screen titled “One more step…” and clicking the “allow” button does not do anything.
Datally for me is the Best App in 2018. I used to worry about my data usage but ever since I installed this app I always have a peace of mind. I have one suggestion though. Please make live data tracking save or remember the amount of data used when switching between apps. Feel free to contact me should you need any further information regarding this suggestion. I believe it even add more value.
The app works to control data usage, however the app had missing important features. The data balance tab, where I can manage my remaining mobile data balance. If it has, the application is considered not user-friendly.
Send to work well enough but my apps are constantly saying things like “connection is unavailable” or “your connection has been reset” whenever I open them. I quickly learned that if I wait a second they eventually connect, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this behavior is confusing for many users.

So far so great. But… I want the Data Saver to turn On automatically whenever I switch on my Mobile Data. I don’t want to manually turn Data Saver On everytime for two good reasons: it’s time-consuming and I forget.
Very usefull app for data saving especially in our network here in philipines because, our local network is very slow in internet and very expensive. This app help me to determine my data usege in every app i use. I wish it has a VPN support in future ..
Awesome app but still need more options i mean the app should contation a data cache clearer and data saver means it could save data which could be used in case of emergency. I know the idea is really a difficult process but the app is really awesome and deserve a great progress.
Nice app and really useful though but I’m uninstalling it because I’m not going to use mobile data anymore because where I live where I study and almost every where I spend time with have free WiFi . so please add WiFi usage tracking option also in it .
Great ideas. Wifi finder still needs work. In order to see ratings or *submit ratings* you need to be “nearby”. There is no “List Mode” when using “Search this Area”. Basically means you have to drive around and sit in parking lots to leave your ratings or see other ratings. This discourages use of the ratings system and will tend to slant it toward people who are having wifi trouble on location and just remember to use this rating system as a complaint outlet. There is no way for anyone to browse around the map and bestow high ratings on their favorite wifi spots. Or to submit a rating remembered later, like when at home checking data. App is pretty much just waiting for you to be sitting on location and alone and in the mood for rating things. Data management seems well done. Have to wait and see what it’s like to have this app running 24/7.
How is this actually different than the built in data saver on my Pixel, which can also block apps? It creates a constant VPN since I have to turn Datally off to use a real VPN… Is the purpose of this app to sniff out user data on all networks?
This app creates a private VPN to monitor mobile traffic from every app, allowing for fine grained control of which apps can use data and even showing real-time data usage with a pop-up bubble. It’s highly configurable yet easy to use with a very streamlined interface. Perfect for managing my 2 GB per month data plan.
Good information and control of data usage. A good feature to have would be to be able to set your billing cycle and data limits and forecast your usage so you know if you need to cut back daily browsing etc
Does exactly what it is supposed to, which is help the user understand the mobile data usage and the apps consuming the mobile data. The user interface is very clean and self explanatory. A must have app for all the smartphone users to monitor and control mobile data usage.
Great app to manage and track your Data usage. And stop unwanted apps from using data in back ground. Would be great if can be bit faster.
The concept of the app is good but it doesn’t meet the expectations. Some of the apps that I dont want to use my data still are able to access the data even after blocking them in Datally. I hope the developers will take cognizance of this and increase the productivity of the app.
This app is a cool idea and it does work however it also does affect the phone performance and battery life. The phone is less responsive with this app when data saver option is enabled.
If your phone plan’s cost varies depending on how much data you use, there is absolutely no reason why you should use anything else to monitor and restrict mobile data use. I’m a Fi user, and datally is indespensible. It’ll show you open WiFi networks anywhere you are or plan on going. I love this app.
It is good but I’m uninstalling it because it doesn’t have the feature to show live data usage in notification and it only show the data usage of mobile dar not of the wifi If these to feature will be add I’ll be happy to install and use this app

I wish google would have released have released this app 2 years back at a time when the data was charged ver high. Now we have at least 1GB per day data. Anyway it’s useful to check the data consumption by individual apps.
Will it’s nice but the data saver mode doesn’t allow play store to download apps. I downloaded an app and had put some others on the list but it doesn’t allow them to download. I had to go back, find those apps and install each of them one by one. Except for this, the app’s superb! I saved nearly a GB of data in a day!
The easiest way to control mobile data usage that I’ve found. Does interfere with using other vpns when it is on though.

Google is onto something here… And I like it… If youre medium of connecting to the net is by 4g, this app helps a lot especially with taking info from your carrier directly onto the app to let you how much prepaid data package you have left… Pure genuis, and considerate.
Very helpul in checking my mobile data usage but will you support at least two numbers so I can check my data balance between both account without logging out and registering over and over again..
I see the advertisement of this app after that I downloaded this app. I didn’t think that this app is use full for a person residing in an rural area as if you are living in a backward area then this app will only show your data usage and you can set a limit on the data usage. I think this process doesn’t need any software as the new generation phones are capable for doing the same. They will show your data usage and you can set a limit on your data usage from the device settings itself. And if we talk about the nearby WiFi which this software shows I think this can be shown on our Mobile without any software need. The only positive feature of this software is that it shows nearby free WiFi networks. That is only my point of view I didn’t say that not to download this app, you can use this application for searching nearby free WiFi and for to check on the daily data usage. And finally thanks to google for giving me opportunity to review this application.
When it’s activated, the hotspot doesn’t seem to be able to assign IP address to other devices trying to connect via WiFi. They get stuck at obtaining IP address. If static address is used by them then they can connect. DHCP isn’t working. Please fix this issue ASAP.
This is a great little app! Having a section now to set the daily limit is good, but it would’ve been better to have it able to enter the monthly allowance, then allowing the app to work out how much data to use on a daily basis, and of data isn’t used on days Datally could recalculate and the daily limit? My provider is giving me 20Gb at full 4G speed then allowing the rest down, so it would be nice to know when I’m coming up to the 20Gb speed limit rather than seeing a daily limit and having to change it each day manually. Other than that, the app is great and I use it daily!
its really a great app but it would be nice if the bubble transparency is adjustable so it wont cover some area of the screen, yeah its a small bubble but its just a bit annoying when i need to relocate the bubble to see some content/text on the side of my screen, but overall i really love this app, thank you google for making this useful app
