Crashing alot since new update, phone call comes in and crushes. Open an app and it crashes. Unstable. Running on android 8.1
Avast is the name of trust for years, but auto update option should be in avast’s settings instead of store..
For some time now, every time my device goes on sleep mode I get a notification, and when I unlock it, there’s nothing. Every. Single. Time. It’s getting to the point I’m considering uninstalling the app (that I paid for). I really hope they fix this issue soon, when they do, I’ll change this review to 5 stars. Using a Moto Z2 play if that’s relevant. Edit: I’m now lowering my score to 1 star, since it have been over a week and a half and still no fix. Edit 2: Issue fixed, restoring my 5* review.
I’ve only been using the app for a few days so it’s hard to fully comment. But I am impressed so far especially for the price. I checked out an article on Consumer Reports which rated Avast second. I chose them as I didn’t like the sound of the aggressive advertising of the other company (I can’t remember their name).
Worked fine ’till now. Blocked some threats, found some viruses, seems to do it’s job great for a free app. If something changes i’ll change the five stars but it’s highly unlikely that will happen. I’m using Avast free on my home computers and I’m recommending it. Keep up the good work guys!
So far so good I feel more secure with this then with the Verizon Security app that came free on the phone. But I don’t have any real proof to back that up the internet shows Avast 2018 better than McAfee so why not go with the better rated app
I never used to have pop up adds, untill I downloaded and paid for the pro version. Now suddenly I have spam pop up adds interrupting my workflow the hole time. I am very disappointed. Even now when righting rjis a (visit dubai) add popped up. Avast can you please help me out with this problem. Whata the use of paying for a anti virus if your app cant even control pop up adds.
This was a good app, the spam number block tool was especially good. Unfortunately it became a battery and ram hog that it rendered my phone useless. Just hitting the home button would take 7 seconds! So I uninstalled and my life is now back to normal. Maybe if the developers could improve on that is reconsider installing again.
I have been avast user for about 5 years now. Loved this app but with time, it is turning a little invasive and disturbing. Its charge screen actually ended up draining my previous phone’s battery disturbing its natural charge cycles. This new one has been giving notification sounds whenever I lock screen ever since I updated the app. It is irritating
Love it… except for 1important thing… It won’t tell you WHAT you are getting ready to “clean” I’ve lost important customer and job related data that was apparently deemed “junk” you should be able to see what is being ready to be deleted and have the option of vetoing it on a file- by- file basis…
I have yet to get a single virus since I started using avast, which I am very grateful for. However, I wish that the app lock would work consistently. UPDATE: Have a new phone and changed the app lock settings to only set after screen turns off. So far, so good.
The app uses gimmicks like RAM boost to try and increase sales. These “features” are actually battery killers and not helpful because Android manages it’s own memory. Try running the feature to remove yeah twice in a row…why does it find stuff on the second run? Basically is clear that this app is more focused on profit than users. Truly bad and not trustworthy because your interests are second to the publishers
Appalled, click on a apparently innocuous advert within the app and am taken to a penis enlargement advert with clear fake claims and extreme content which would never pass the regulator, surely any app having links to such content should be banned from the Play Store!! Plus there is no way to contact avast about such illegal content.
Update 07/15/2017: the stability of the app and its compatibility with my device have markedly improved. I’m glad the developers and testers fixed the issues. They detect issues and protect my phone very well now. It seems to work much better and I’m glad. I’ve used Avast in the past and I’m glad they listen to customers.
Avast is the best security software on the market, as far as I’m concerned. Of course I would add it to my mobile. I had my personal info compromised in a data breach. It was on a major company website, but my computer proved to be more secure than theirs!
I turned on the call blocker. However while it does block unwanted incoming calls, while on phone when you are on a call when Avast blocks the calls it also boots you off the conversation you are in at the moment. This needs fixed. I lost important conversations due to work and health needing to call the person back that I was speaking too. You need to fix this issue and others are having same issue as myself. Once I turned the call block off none of my conversations were booted in midstream talking, as it did with the call block on. What a disappointment. I was going crazy figuring out why . Even reaching out to my carrier with their answer being it was not on the carriers side. Thankfully after figuring it out myself I am relieved of not being booted of calls. 🤔🙄😞
Best AV company, period. Been with Avast for 12 uears. Not a single issue, I have literally nothing but good things to say about these guys. Cheap for upgraded versions, additional features are broken into sections so you can tailor to your own needs without having to pay for things you just don’t want or need. 5*s all day, everyday.
After scanning is complete, it says ignored issues. Warnings are of threating nature. Laymen will be flabbergasted as if something happened to device. Nothing friendly WiFi scanning says router and password is prone to threating attacks. One way of forceful marketing of their other products to go in for paid version. The price paid is of course on the highest side, but you can cover two devices. Requesting the developer not to come up with threating pop up which is irritating.

Overall good except for the app lock. Fingerprint reading is not sensitive. Sometimes it doesn’t recognize fingerprint or its far too slow in recognizing the fingerprint. Facing same problem on the Samsung S8 and S9 plus.
Always seems to get better. Intuitive UI and a nice layout. Been using Avast for a number of years now on various devices and can honestly say never had a problem. Great that you can now block those pesky cold calls.
The app is just too glitchy and makes getting access to my phone home screen frustrating. Also, the app is constantly promoting the purchase of companion apps.
data usage page adds up wifi as well as cell. av definitions dated 2014. app locking used to be free (ad-supported) but now costs money. ghastly practice, ghastly software, ghastly company. AVOID. contains more adverts than all the malware it fails to detect
